Even when calling Sky or some other companies DIRECTLY for service, you can end up with an unsightly installation on your home. Sky, and some other companies are hiring techs in droves, training them in one month, and then setting them loose...ON YOUR HOME!
However, to be fair It may not even be due to the installers skills, or incompetence. Their "free" standard installation only provides so much labor. They typically run and nail the wires to the outside of your home, and then drill holes to get the cable into your home. They emphasize signal quality, over esthetics.
While a reliable signal is certainly important, it's also important to hide the cabling for a great looking installation!
